Naitive® Technologies, a medical technology company developing AI-driven software to reimagine orthopedic care, today announced a new research partnership with Utah Orthopaedics, the only comprehensive, single-office provider of high-quality orthopedic services in the Rocky Mountain region, and a pioneer of osteoporosis care within the orthopedic workflow through their on-site Bone Health Clinic. The study will use OsteoSight™ to assess the prevalence of low bone mineral density (BMD) in the local population, using retrospective data from Utah Orthopaedics. It will also enable the continued evaluation of OsteoSight and its estimated BMD in comparison to DXA BMD, the current gold standard for diagnosing osteoporosis, which is a leading risk factor for fragility fractures. “The real statistics on how many hip fractures or other fragility fractures occur in the United States are not well known and are definitely underreported because there's no bandwidth around osteoporosis. It’s devastating. It's an everybody disease,” said Alexandra Rocco, PA-C, Director of the Bone Health Clinic at Utah Orthopaedics, who will be instrumental in this research collaboration alongside Dr. Jeffrey Rocco. “With a product like OsteoSight, this opens up a whole line of patients you normally would never see.” OsteoSight enables the opportunistic assessment of low BMD using standard X-rays acquired for other clinical indications. Seamlessly integrated into the orthopedic workflow, it helps practices identify at-risk patients earlier, providing short-term and long-term benefits to the patients and the practice. Since bone quality directly impacts implant fixation, healing, and the risk of periprosthetic fractures, earlier identification of low BMD informs surgical planning and allows surgeons to initiate appropriate referrals, enabling diagnosis and treatment that reduce fracture risk and improve patient outcomes. “We are excited to partner with an orthopedic practice that delivers exceptional orthopedic care and comprehensive osteoporosis management,” said Dr. Will Briggs, CEO of Naitive Technologies. “This collaboration offers us a unique opportunity to demonstrate how OsteoSight can enhance the performance of orthopedic practices that are already committed to advancing bone health.” About Utah Orthopaedics.Utah Orthopaedics is the only comprehensive, single-office provider of high-quality orthopaedic services in the region.
